Hi Coaster,
You may remember I commented on the Diamond Stream system 'way back when'?
I remarked that the filter element was too fine for continuous operations and a lot of power needed to drive the unit making it somewhat impractical?
I remembered afterwards that there is another problem - dissolved gasses! Even if the water to be filtered does not have large particulates and the filters don't clog up; the gasses will pass through and you will have water unusable for consumption but is will do for irrigation.

Than a farm. Dig a spot for a livestock pond. Dig a hole in the bottom. Tranquilize the wife and Joe. Pour cement over them in the bottom. Then open up the irrigation pipes to fill up the pond. Or bury them in separate places in a pasture or out in the woods. It was stupid to let them both live.

Using an electric heater with a holding tank, the size will determine how long you can have a hot shower for. As the hot water in the tank is used, the water is replaced with cold water.

Great tear-jerker. Just a little critique: A child Erica's age would not be left alone for lengths of time as implied by what Cathy said. Someone would have informed child protective services, which would have created a whole new set of problems.
Then the commode that kept running water, probably for days, again that being implied. The water bill would have been astronomical. I know because I have a basement commode that I used a while back and didn't make sure the water stopped running into the tank. The water kept running all night until I was going out the next morning and heard the water running. For some reason the flapper got cocked a little and didn't seal so the water just kept running. My water and sewage bill combined is usually about $46.00 a month. However, my next water/sewage bill was $110.00.
I'm afraid I see little things like that.
But overall, the story was beautiful.
